2005 AIA Committee on the Environment Green Project Awards

On Earth Day April 22nd, the AIA Committee on the Environment (COTE) announced the winners of its annual prestigious COTE Green Project Awards, an international competition to select the top high-performance, sustainable projects designed by U.S. Architects and completed since 1994. This year's competition was sponsored in partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR® and Target Finder programs and BuildingGreen Inc.

The projects will be formally unveiled at a special reception on April 28th at the National Building Museum in Washington DC, and showcased in mid-May at the AIA National Convention in Las Vegas.

On Thurs. May 12th, the AIA NY Chapter Committee on the Environment, in partnership with the EBA/CEEP Green Salon, will host a panel discussion consisting of three of the jurors from this year's Awards program -- Susan Maxman, FAIA; Dan Nall, FAIA; and Deborah Snoonian, PE -- who will present the winning projects.

The AIA COTE Green Project Awards program seeks to identify and recognize the benefits of an integrated, high-performance design approach and acknowledge architects as experts in the creation of energy-conscious and environmentally responsible design solutions. COTE places a high value on sustainable design practices, not only to educate the architecture community and the public at large, but also for developers, building owners, and occupants.

Moderated by
Joyce Lee, AIA, Chief Architect, NYC Office of Management & Budget, and former Chair AIA National COTE
