Speaker bios:
Guy Geier, AIA, IIDA, is a multiple award winning architect, interior designer, professional planner, speaker, industry leader and strong proponent of the value that design plays in creating a healthy and productive workplace. Guy joined FXFowle as a principal in 2005 to lead the Interiors Studio. (www.fxfowle.com) His current projects include the interiors of the Wildlife Conservation Society?s Center for Global Conservation, the expansion and renovations of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, a feasibility study for the Spanish company Negone?s offices in NY, the Juilliard School expansion interiors and corporate offices for Oaktree Capital Management.
Previously, Guy was CEO of Vitra, principal of NBBJ and president and Chief Marketing Officer of Hillier. Key projects included the 100,000 square foot LMVH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton headquarters in NYC (which won an AIA NY Chapter Design Award), the 350,000 Turkiye Bankase HQ in Istanbul (won the SARA Grand Prize Design Award) and interiors for the MTA?s 700,000 square foot offices. Other design & programming projects include offices of StarMedia, Bank of Montreal, Schering-Plough, Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch and JP Morgan Chase. Many of his projects have been featured in major architecture and design publications.
He is the immediate past president of the International interior Design Association NY Chapter (an affiliate of the Green Building Salons), on the Board of Interior Designers for Legislation in NY (IDLNY), is an active member of the AIA, IFMA, NY Building Congress and the Hudson Guild in NY. He is on the editorial advisory board for both Contract Magazine and Development NY Magazine. He teaches Professional Practice at Parsons, the New School for Design. Guy received both his Bachelor of Science and Masters in Architecture from the University of Virginia, and sits on the Dean?s Advisory Board. He lives in Cranbury NJ.
David Cooper, PE, CEM, LEED®has been with Flack + Kurtz for over 20 years and is currently the managing director of the New Office. In this role, David believes in delivering quality, value and creative thinking to their clients through a hands-on approach to project execution and client service. A degreed and Professional Engineer, David has been responsible for the mechanical engineering for a wide variety of projects types around the world.
SCOTT CHARON, New Product Development - Program Manager, joined Herman Miller in 2001 to help facilitate supply chain communications for the Design for the Environment (DfE) program. He has worked closely with MBDC (McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry) to implement their Cradle to Cradle DesignSM Protocol at Herman Miller. Scott also coordinates the investigation of advanced materials and concepts through the Herman Miller Strategic Technology Partnership Program.
Scott received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Supply Chain Management from Michigan State University and then spent 11 years with the automotive division of Johnson Controls, Holland, Michigan, in purchasing, management and finance. Scott received his Masters Degree in Business from Grand Valley State University in 2001. Scott is also a U.S. Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional.
Scott also serves on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency?s National Pollution Prevention and Toxics Advisory Committee (NPPTAC) and has served on other U.S. EPA initiatives including the Green Supplier Network (GSN); the P3 Award: A Student Design Competition for Sustainability; and the EPA/IDSA partnership. Additionally, he is a member of the West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum?s Interiors and Education Committee. Scott is married and has three children.
