Going for LEED Platinum
Queens Botanical Garden

This summer, a new visitor and administration center for the Queens Botanical Garden will open in Queens County, the most ethnically diverse neighborhood in the country. The goal of a LEEDรข Platinum rating is not only an expression of green ambition, but a fulfillment of the institutional mission of the Garden to celebrate both botanical and cultural diversity.

From the inception of the project, pioneering sustainable strategies were integrated into the design process, inspiring the building’s form. Extensive collaboration with the entire project team; client, city agencies, consultants and contractors, were essential to the realization of innovative building technologies, the maintenance of quality control, and the management of a green construction site. The result is a built expression of a commitment to environmental stewardship and sense of place – a building that fully expresses the interrelationship between people and the natural landscape.
